Yeah, drill or grind the head so that you can pull the ASA away from the rail. Then you can get some tools on it. You might need to heat the ASA up before you try turning the remaining screw with a pair of vise grips.

If you don't have many tools, you should weigh finding another ASA cheap to the cost of tools. I always just buy more tools, but I've heard there are other ways to do things.

Lol well I've gotten through part of it. Just haven't had a chance to get through the rest of the way.

Apply lubricant to the cutting tool. Probably time to get a new drill/grinding tip as well.

Since your already drilling, it's too late for the ole Barkeepers Friend trick (make a paste of scouring powder, put some on the bit and try to remove the screw), or the impact driver...

For now, take your time and drill/grind the head until you can remove the ASA, then use VICE-Grips to turn the screw out. Not pliers, not channel locks, but actual vice-grips. OH! and applying some dry ice to the screw (after the ASA is off) will not hurt.

Left-handed drill bits - for real. They tend to grab the screw as they cut into it and turn it right out. And High Quality screw extractors -- like these:

Trust me on this one, the Boeing 747 is about 1/3 million seized screws flying in tight formation.
