I 'may', after this video was filmed, put the gas tank in my pocket and moved around the garage taking pot shots at imaginary targets and dry firing. It would all have been for testing purposes of course
Congratulations man!

All that extra testing is important to the final product after all XD

This frickin' thing followed me from England, got worked on a little, then left for a year in parts that I had to find again all over the house/garage. It's a miracle it even exists lol. So happy to get this far.

I was really gutted the tube walls on the butt stock were too thick, so I couldn't put the regulator in it. Need to figure out how the heck I can drill/grind/hone or whatever to get the reg to fit, as it won't take much work with the right tool.

I am gonna set up some practice targets and firing points in the woods behind the house and get some practice in with it, that I badly need.

Huzzah.

OK, so just for future reference that other people might find useful, here are some pictures of the press fit (possibly with some glue also) of the original SP-1 firing can/breach.

1) Yes, it really does come apart.
2) Yes, you can affix it in place with a set screw (or whatever).
3) No, it doesn't matter if you remove the front section, it's just decoration (and support inside the plastic casing)
4) Obviously it was easier to get off as I had my firing can milled.

Anywho, here is where I am tonight (as shown in the video):

I think I mentioned, but I need to:
1) Clean up the paintwork/repaint
2) Put the rails on.
3) Bore out the stock tube a little so the reg can fit in there.
4) Make the rain cover a little better.
5) Add my red dot on it when it turns up. (oooo shiny!)
6) Work on getting the mag well a little better. Currently there is some movement side to side I want to improve upon.

Also... I really wanted to drop the stock a little, but that is going to take some work, as dropping it down directly gets in the way of your hand. I will think of something.

And, a longer video:

I will get a test video of shooting paint tomorrow hopefully, if the dive shop is open for air.

I went out and test fired it today. If you want to watch around 7 minutes of blank firing and paint breaks (Remember to take you barrel cleaner! d'oh!!!), then feel free to watch the video (It's uploading at present).

Key thing to note: The adjustments I made so that I wasn't putting too much tension on the magazine door spring actually have caused an issue. When paint is in there, it seems the doors are not opened enough. D'oh. I will have to make a small adjustment to get it to release more.

Doesn't help that it damn cold, and I'm using fragile tournament paint.

About 7 of those minutes are me trying to get it to work lol. Seriously... I should have got a barrel cleaner lol.

Wow... looking at the mag system again, I vastly underopened. D'oh!

Attempting a temp fix tonight to confirm my suspicions, and then something more permanent if it works. This should also help eject the magazine from the mag well by moving this down.

OK, so my temporary fix worked. Balls now feed properly. On a separate note, I really regret buying that tourny paint for testing mag fed

Please ignore the swarf, I did this very quickly and it will be thoroughly cleaned up.

Received a third SP-1 body in the mail today (good lord!), but more importantly, the second grip frame came with it Means I can start work on the rear mount for the Dye DAM mag well.

Anyway.. most important though, was my UTG Sight came today. I must admit, bigger than I expected.

One thing I will say, the DAM mags are pretty big. I have noticed weird things happening with the latch door release button as well. Never had problems on my older mags.

BTW.. if you are happy about bonding on the mag well, and not drilling and tapping the breach etc, you can do it very quickly and cheaply. I would highly recommend getting hold of the Dye mag well though now that it's actually available. I started this when you couldn't get hold of one for love nor money, and wanted to make one without the airports on top.

Now... I'm gonna be brutally honest here. If you are using a butt stock, you are going to want to raise the sight anyway to clear the mask, so in hindsight, it doesn't really matter if they are on top. The soldering is a piece of cake, nothing to be scared of. I you need any help or advice, measurements or pictures, please feel free.
