sten style pistol, automag

while looking on net had an idea for a automat/mini mag
looking at this old pic from this site

makes me think of this also a pic that been on this site

was thinking this wouldn't be hard for some one with right tools
be matter of removing feed knock and welding on a aluminum tipx compatible magwell
unfortenetly i don't have tools or know how with miling for this, might work 3d printed but aluminum be ideal.
but if any one want try, i don't mind you using my idea.
even better if some one (preferably in canada) want try with a classic or mini main body, or a warp left, and if works if not too expensive id be willing buy from them, don't have a automat yet, so body doesn't matter, could get a mag after i know what main body.

You could probly get a hopper left body, cut off the feed neck, use an aluminum sight rail, and a tippmann 98 magazine adapter to make something along the lines your looking for. Thought about doing it a long time ago but the price of the magazine adapter and the thought of buying a few zeta mags kinda keeps me from starting the project.

Regular Mag bodies are steel, you won't be welding aluminum anything to it.

You'd make the project simpler using a Micromag 2K9 and Lapco shroud. There's a few mag adapters out that can be fitted with a little bit of ingenuity.

Aren't they stainless to be more exact? Which, I hear (can't weld) that stainless is harder to weld.

But, a minimag body with the feed hole plugged off, a new one drilled in the side, and an adapter to run the 98 mag conversion might work.

I will clarify, while you CAN weld aluminum to steel, it takes a special process and the heat created would most likely ruin a 'mag body. I can weld mild steel to stainless and stainless to stainless with little effort, it's all in the process and filler wire. If someone wanted to make a sten style marker out of a 'mag, the easiest way would be to source a warp left body, and a spring feed stick from Rap4 or whoever is selling them this month, take/cut off any sort of feed adapter, and mate the spring feed to the warp left feed neck (there is a few ways this can be done). There would be a few options on how to reload also, and I could get in to that, but I'm wine drunk so not right now.

Not too sloshed to edit: with a vert feed body and a spring feed from a t68 or another marker using the spring loaded bars for retention, you could cut the feed neck off and weld fittings to lock spring feeds into place like intended, just sideways. While the "mag" would not come off the SIDE of the body, it would still be pointing in the right direction.

I also can't imagine wanting to intentionally make a marker so dang clunky and awkward, but different strokes and all that.

That isn't a Sten, It's a Sterling/Colefire pistol. Welding a stainless body is easy enough, but if you are not careful you will warp the tube.
