Slide frame Rainmaker - what!!!???

I've been working on this thing for a few months now... it started back in May, I think, when I cleaned up my garage (man, is it ever messy again, I really need do some cleaning again) and found a Rainmaker body that I'd drilled some holes.

A couple of months, two parts gun and a handful of other parts from here and elsewhere later, and I've got a good start on a mech conversion.

In an attempt to lower operating pressure, I've gutted, sealed, and bored out the HPR for lots of volume behind the valve, modded a Piranha STBB bolt to try for better flow over the stock bolt, and installed a Rocket valve. Before it was converted to mech, it was running 270ish FPS at 250psi input from the Maxflo.

I also drilled and tapped the HPR block to install a 90* elbow in order to run a LPR off the rear block. I'm not sure if I'll like it but we'll see - I've got a few HPRs left that I can modify differently if I dislike it.

I've done a couple of other ones and learned what I like and didn't like, so I think this is going to be a good one.

EDIT: Changed up some stuff again.

I wanted to mount the LPR under the gutted HPR block, in the stock position, but a full size Rock is just way too long to mount there - I'd be bumping it into my mask every time I shouldered the gun. Instead I went with the time-tested location of side saddle off the HPR with a 90* fitting and ran the LPR hose around the back and through the lower portion of the receiver - there's a cavity there that's meant for the solenoid wiring and stock LPR hose, so it fit with no issues.

Here's somewhat of a closeup of the front... Mag VASA, Cocker 3-way and fullsize timing rod, cut down slightly for timing purposes, "custom" 3-way mount.

I made a frame adapter and 3-way mount that uses a setscrew from the bottom to retain the 3-way instead of threading - I don't have the correct tap to thread for a 3-way, and this works better for disassembly anyways.

I've installed the Ergo reg and DropZone cradle with a Shocktech on-off ASA, which puts it at a good position and grip angle. I also finished up some oak grip panels I've been working on and added them. I might change out the reg at some point and go back to the Maxflo, but I originally designed the mod to have a vertical ASA so it doesn't make sense to not use it.

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

Hey, I know it's just a Rainmaker, but I really like messing with them.

No, it's not a modification necessary for anything, just a cosmetic one, although it is a good diagnostic aid if I'm trying to figure out what broke this time (), and I wanted to see what a windowed lower receiver would look like. I have a bunch of extra Rainmaker parts lying around, including a couple of bodies, so I tried it out.

It's a kink-and-latch-monitoring-window.

If you used a cocker VASA and blinded the top, would the rod fit through?

Possibly.

I'm planning to do something similar to a Mag VASA.

Yeah, the mag version wouldn't have the seal issue.
