Right, I remember that now. Ugh, I really wanted to win that one, such a nice FSR single-shot. I don't think the rear slot is detrimental in any way.

Just more food for thought - If you're worried about modifying the body and un-even forces on the bolt, you can always rig up an external bolt-handle/frame. This was a little tricky but both sides of the bolt are supported. There is a stainless pin attached in parallel to the gun stock; the bolt-frame has a nylon bushing that rides on the pin to keep it aligned. The bolt handle hinges on the frame and rests in the cutout on the gun stock, locking it forward to fire.

Instead of the pin, the bolt-frame could have rode on the body itself (like turning the pump handle backwards, ala hammer7 bolt action builds) but I wanted to locate my bolt handle further back to match the gun stock better.

I've seen the reversed pump handle mod quite a few times, and while it evens out the force on each side of the bolt, it doesn't prevent blowback on the bolt. Is there anyway of getting the best of both worlds?

That one looks like it does exactly like what you want. The handle is hinged on the carrier, and then can rotate down into the notch in the stock, similar to a real steel bolt action.

Ok, I see what you're saying, didn't see that before. Only thing is that this might be a bit above my skill level.
