Grip modding

So, just got some dye sticky grips I’m going to mangle, I mean modify, to fit on my angel lcd, with an Enoch board. The originals swell badly and I’d rather mangle these up before trying on the stock fatboys.
The goal is to cut out more of the inside to fit everything as to use and see the board. As it sits now I’d have to remove the Bluetooth and screen to get the grips tight on the frame.
Now here’s the fun part, I don’t have any tools. Thinking of getting a $50 dremel light for this project, maybe. Otherwise I was planning on using razor blades and sand paper.
Any suggestions?

What is the inner surface of the stickies made of?

Dremel may not do very well unless it's a fairly hard plastic.

They don't have any real torque at lower speeds and at higher speeds they just melt softer plastics and rubber rather than remove it. You end up with a gooey mess rather than a void

youll want the dremmel with either a sanding drum, a 9933 (tungsten carbide cutting cylinder) or a 115 high speed cutting drum

ive used a dremel to hollow out Ego grips for a clapper solenoid, and i've used them to cut a window into UL grips for a yakuza board screen

the trick is using one of the cutting wheels, it just chunks off the softer stuff which keeps it from melting

I mean I think you should get a Dremel regardless of this project. They are super handy in paintball. I have a flex shaft on mine and it just hangs in the garage, never gets put away because I use it so often

Don't forget safety glasses!

yeah, it would work, the longevity of the dremel itself might be in question, but for the sake of having something around, they are damn handy, and definitely on the safety glasses and breathing mask, dremels are designed in a way that it flings the material you are cutting directly into your face, regardless of orientation

I'm assuming you mean the old all rubber stickies? If you get matrix sticky 3s, they have a plastic backing and would probably be easier take material off of.
