Regulator bench tester, DIY PB fixin tools

Hopefully this is a good area to put this thread and not a waste of time endeavor. I had a handful of brass fittings lying around and a couple regs that need to be rebuilt or put in a relative pressure zone. I know this isnít an original idea, but maybe itíll help with consistency between tuning and rebuilding regs by giving a number to record as a baseline. Due to its simplicity, I figured Iíd post it here and anyone can make one easily with available parts and add to the list and/or share thoughts.

List: 1/8 NPT fittings, reducer and caps depending on your gauge, 10-32 1/16 barbs (I used Clippard), 10-32 tap and #21 drill bit may come in handy (Irwin Hanson has a nice kit P/N 1765536 at Loweís), gauges that are within your pressure range, old bottom line ASA, optional push bleed valves (AmFlo 711 is a good start) and Foster 12FS quick disconnects, thread tape, and hose. The base in my picture is temporary, just for mock-up.

If you just need to tune or set your hpr, plug the outlet for the lpr.

I plan on adding the 1/8 NPT push bleed valves and Foster quick disconnects when they arrive this weekend. Iíll post more pics if anyone is interested when the last bit arrives. Post your ideas or home built shop tools with a small write up and supply list if possible.

I dig it. My only suggestion would be to just put a ball valve at the LPR connection so you don't have to worry about plugging the port.

Not sure why I didn’t think of that. Thank you, I’ll add that to the mix.

Here it is pretty much done except a valve for the lpr. I didnít feel like ordering one or paying extra for reducers since my hardware stores only have 1/4Ē NPT valves in stock. I added the QD fittings and push bleeder valves, used a junk to me drop on/off ASA with 2 ports. Scrap piece of plywood and screws. Here is my DIY hokey bench tank reg, hpr and lpr tester.

Looks good. If I ever get my scuba back from hydro I may set up something similar. As of right now I have an ASA adapter drilled/tapped to 1/4npt with a standard air fitting to run off of my compressor. No good for testing high pressure stuff but it works for leaks.20200321_215023.jpg
