You could try putting a bumper between the back block and the body

That’s exactly what I did. I have some o-rings that fit perfectly. Might help with impact down the road too. I’ll have to do a hardware store run for material to make the connecting pin and a pin retention system. I was thinking about cutting the tail off the bolt, drill and tap, drop a ball bearing and spring then back with a grub screw.

Here is what I did. Looks ugly as sin, Iíll address that later. Itís more of a material and adhesive test right now.

I did consider using set screws and I may have to go that route if this bumper fails. Time will tell.

This is the adhesive I used. This stuff is really a pain in the *** to clean once cured. I get it in those oil pan kits for a Navistar 444. Can be had around 30 bucks from eBay also.

If that doesn't stick you could always take a slice off of the bumper for the striker.

Have you done anything with the valve pin?
