dark purple shell with bright green fill is pretty rad actually. I'd shoot that paint any day, all the GI milsim paint I've had at the home field has been really excellent... good round shells and straight shooting. DXS shoots straight sometimes too.

Wait... Chris Lasoya has credibility? I thought people stopped listening to him when he almost killed that other dude from shooting him point black in the back of the neck a couple times.

From reports I have heard, GIM paint is rather decent. I don't know who is making GIM paint, but it appears to be the best product GIM sells.

Let's just shoot .50 cal at 400 fps. It would probably be awesome.

By "a couple" you mean 12.

The fact that there are still companies willing to pay Lasoya for his endorsement is appalling.

russel, sounds good to me! perhaps someone could calculate exactly what velocity .50 cal paint needs to be going to match the energy of .68 cal at 300fps? and break at similar ranges. we'll just invent our own new set of safety rules

I've got that - I'll see if I can track it down. We got a dual chrono number for it - which meant we could reverse calculate the ballistic coefficeint. off the top of my head it was 425 fps to match muzzle energy. It'll never break at all ranges the same because it decelerates more quickly. So, even with equal muzzle energy it won't deliver that same equal energy at range.

the formula for joules is .5 mass x V^2

regular paint weighs 3 grams, .50 cal weighs 1.2 grams.

so .5 * .003 * 91^2 = 12.4 j
.5 * .0012 * X^2 = 12.4j .... solve for x and you get 143 m/s or 470 fps

The insurance companies will never allow that.

Oh for sure it would be, i've done it and it was a blast, takes care of any disadvantages you have. Except for smaller marks, naturally.
Of course it's a fail at 300fps, i'm suprised we're even still talking about it.
