For reference, here is a field full of the self inflating bunkers I mentioned. They can also still operate with large tears down the side of them. It's kind of crazy, actually.

Would you rather have a useless uninflatable bunker or a bunker you need to leave out on the field? Disposal might be a problem, however...

I think the density of a typical couch cushion foam is about 1 pound per cubic foot, and I think the foam in those mattresses is pretty similar. If you had a 4 foot cube (what I would consider a pretty small bunker) it would weigh about 64 pounds.

Won't last. I have a self inflating pad for my sleeping bag. It's a few years old and doesn't inflate all the way anymore.
