Umm it's not stock class if you use a bulk tank and a hopper...
It would be stock class if you used a stick feed and 12g co2.

I got a question... its great if we can decide on some all encompassing ground rules to define stock class, but is there anyone who is going to adopt this as their 'official' definition? Is there some sort of regulatory body out there that will get behind what we decide?

I berried the hatchet on this long ago and, decided that if paint is fed by an horizontal stick feed and is powered by one 12g, it fits the category.

Barrel length, stick feed length, sites, auto trigger, rain covers ect.ect don't make a difference to me. You?

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

I really don't care either. I actually usually run o/c anyway. And since 99.9% of the time my opponents are running semis and electros, no one else cares either. Until there is a competitive stock class format or a strictly stock class field where there is a need for definitive rulings on "what is stock class" no one will really care.
I recently played in a pump/pistol game that was a lot of fun and felt like the good ol' days. Since it was pump and semi pistol game, no one was concerned about stock vs. open class pump.
With the prevalence of semis and the increasing popularity of pistols, strictly stock class play will be hard to find except in isolated pockets of die hard old school players (and even then, how many of them will you be able to get together at one time). I'm not saying defining stock class isn't a worthy endeavor, I'm just saying, how often will it be a functional definition and not just a theoretical exercise?

In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

I run a buzzard on a 13ci or a 3.5oz when I get the chance to cut down on 12g costs, with 12g's as backup if the tanks go dry. As stated above its a cost saving measure when running a SC marker in an open class group, its hard enough trying to convince people to play hopperball much less pump. I don't even really want people to change how they play, I just run my buzzard and show people that there is a different way to play.

I'm not even really worried about stock class play. 'They' (the people defining stock class rules) could go off of some wierd kind of LPPC rules and call it any marker of any type as long as you dont have more than 50 rounds per man and call that stock class for all I care. I will still run a buzzard.

My point is what good is this discussion if tourney promoters and manufacturers aren't reading this? The only reason a phantom is thought of as stock class is due to the rules being bent to include the phantom, done by CCI and touted as real stock class by an industry figurehead. If prior manufacturers had not been promoting their higher capacity markers (15 rounds in the case of sheridan and 20 rounds in the case of the brass eagle nightmare LB... both clearly stockclass markers in their own rights but in their peak days they were designed with more firepower in mind, not less) in all likelyhood stock class rules would have originally been 10 rounds. Had AGD championed stock class, semiauto pistols with springfeeds would have probably fit in the definition of stock class.

'Modern' stock class rules (pre-dating this thread) are only still around cause there was some official support from some sort of industry leader (whose markers just happen to fit all of those posted rules). Without some sort of industry support, any rules we concoct will just be forgotten and ignored.

I happen to play pump against semis and electros, and my favorite pump happens to be stock class. I like to promote pump, but beyond that I don't really want to change how people spend their weekend paintballing.

RTR has already said that he will likely use this definition for his next SC only event.
