I just found this and it's an old thread, but I like the simple rules of modern stock class. Pump, 12 gram, and feed limitation. I think it's perfect.

I gave up on paintball when the "arms race" turned into tournament ball.. where you basically burned cash for 10 minutes at a time.

I returned when I saw the fallout from that 10 years later ... woods fields re-opening, and old guns coming back in style, and more fun for each dollar spent. I'm sure the field owners hate it though.. longer games and selling far less paint.

Our story sounds the same bro...trying to play competitive ball burned me out to the point that I took close to 10 years off...now I'm back playing with a great group of guys and usin gear that's fun for me (sc). I don't hate on electros or open class pumps or magfed, but for me the ultimate challenge and skill is sc.

I think so fields hate it but most love it. A lot of them started playing in the 80s when stock class was all there was and they like seein it come back. As far as the money, my local field likes us old school guys as he calls us because we're consistent money. We come out every weekend whereas a lot of the speedballers can't afford that. They're hit and miss and in my experience normally disappear for the same reasons I did. Here's hoping they come back and find a way to play affordably and have fun. For me that's stock class.

Double FYI for paintball rules there should be no "offer" of surrender, its either mandatory surrender at X distance when guy is behind you or no surrender and you get shot in the booty. "offer" of surrender makes for some ridiculous and dangerous john woo tactics.

After talking to a lot of people at my field, they are more open to play a more modified version of SC (stick feeds with CA) alot believe its just way to much work for having 12 grams be involved

Modified Stock class is fun. I still use 3.5oz or 13/3's a lot especially when it's cold out.

I never got around to modifying my co2 tanks for cold weather games by installing a dip tube. Mainly because we just never played in weather below 35-40*
There those little 12g cats came in really handy if you kept them in your pockets.
Only its been so long since I played, that I can’t remeber which of my valves worked best for cold weather.
What’s your guess Nish?

mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...
tlane77 He's got a woody for your woods.

Obviously, it would have to be a valve with the most restricted valve chamber.
Or is it he other way around?
Do you have a walk in freezer at home?

Old thread or not, I still agree with a lot of the sentiment, and am not opposed to modified stock class, either. It is still "close" to the intent of a pure stock class, in that choosing your shots and reload timing are critical skills, and it still requires a different strategy from open class that hearkens back to the roots of the game.

I have always found the evolution of the game to be fascinating, like the introduction of direct feed, the first double-actions, autotriggers, mechs, and then electros. As much as possible, I prefer to play the front half of that list, as much as possible - it is normally just being able to find the time and place to do that, which represents a problem. Granted, for me, a good part of that is logistical due to family obligations related to me being a caregiver, as well.

Good opinion on both the evolution and what the actual meaning of SC represents.
At splattttttt land all our gavems were a combined element. Though most, like 99.99% all brought pumps to use, we were not opposed to let someone use a semy auto albeit a mech or an e. We just kindly asked that they load each shot by hand or muzzle load
As long as we could restrict the semi auto function, you were allowed to play.
Splattttttt land was is an outlaw field.

A couple of the fields that I used to play at in the 90s used to close out their day with a variation on that, which they called it "Civil War". No matter what you were running, it was one round into the breech at a time. On some days, they were the best games that we would play the entire weekend and we often would talk more about those, than any of the other formats that we had played.

Thats because the stratergy is now in favor of the player pulling the trigger and not the gun.
Adds an extra element to the gamme.
All paintball guns shoot balls.
But the rate at which they do, is what dictates how you play.
You want to see more movent? For e more apponents to surrender or barrel tag which is my biggest gratification in this sport by the way... Then you beed to reduce the interval between each shot.
If that’s too slow for you? Just add more players LOL
