Wow, I hadn't read the whole stock class history before. Thanks for bumping this, guys, I enjoyed the history lesson in the OP.

One question I had - does anyone know what size HPA tank would be the equivalent to one 12g, in terms of shot count? (though I'm sure it would vary from marker to marker, but that's the same as with a 12ie).

Some assumptions and napkin math...

Assuming the marker gets 30 shots, and the tank will be a 3000 psi tank...

X cubic inches of tank volume * 3000 psi / 300 (This is a "standard rule of thumb" used to calculate pressure and volume for approximate shot counts) = 30 shots

Find for X

X * 10 = 30
x = 3 cubic inches

The same math applied to a 13/3000 tank...

13 cubic inches * 3000 psi / 300 = Y shots
13 CI * 10 = Y shots
130 shots

Obviously this changes based on marker efficiency, rate of fire, external temperature, marker minimum operating pressure and fill pressure. (Add of subtract 100 psi to our theoretical 3000 psi fill and see what happens

It's been a while since I've tried 12ies in the cold VT winters but I was finding that I got better results out of more expansion room rather than less in the cold. Which is funny because I've always subscribed to devolumizing normally.

This has held true in my experience.

12g play in winter/late fall I use expansion chambers and the like to milk as many shots as possible, usually sacrificing FPS.

In spring/summer/early fall I restrict flow as much as possible, direct mount 12g changers, devolumizers, etc.

Strangely enough I seem to get better consistency in the winter, maybe because there's less temperature variation?

I switch to HPA in the cold. I don't like 12g in the winter.

I’m excited I’ll be going to my first “pure” stock class event this September, picked up a pgp put a 12 gram in it and by the grace of WALZ it aired up no leaks and I was able to get about 27-29 shots, I’m interested to see how things go.

THE-SHOOTIST Anyone chubbin' like me for this?
mailmanmike Since Monday! That's more than 4 hours though, so according to those cialis ads I should see my doctor.
tlane77 I think for a non-chemical chubby it's 6 hours before its time to see a doctor. So you should be good for another couple hours.
splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. But what ever feelings Jeff's experiencing, then they must be of the fun like stuff...

Saw this thread a few days ago and though up a simple quiz:

1) do you have more 10round tubes than you know what to do with?
2) do they have bright orange flip caps?
3) do you have an excessive amount of 12grams at home?
4) does your maker need to be pumped?
5) are you enjoying your self?
6) do you treat renters with kindness?
7) do you try and take down the players with space dildos?
8) do you go out of your way to try and spook someone?
9) do you believe paintball is all about enjoying your self?
10) do the names; Carter Machine, Lapco, CCI, Line SI, etc etc mean anything to you?
11) Do you need to do some strange hand dance with your marker to actually load a round?
12) Do you stock pile hawaiian shirts from second hand stores?

If you answered "Yes" to 3 or more of these questions, then you are in fact a stock class player.

Sounds like the start of a new and different kind of "You might be a redneck if..." stand up comedy.

You might be a Stock Class player if...
- Your bulk box of 12 grams weigh more than your marker
- You and your buddies sit around and discuss the merits of cap versus capless tubes
- You know that a 10 round tube contains almost exactly one shot (of alcohol )

I am sure there are a ton more.
