Custom 5.25" Deadlywind FiburX Freak bore barrel came today, looks good on the Spyder pistol project - airs up and fires, need to get some orings to get it firing semi-auto - fun firing it bolt action too.

yeah, though the pictures are damn small in the book, they are clear enough to get the idea, but occasionally i need to pull up the manual on my computer and zoom in to see things like wire routing and zip tie positioning

Gonna print some removable widgets?

But seriously, nice machine. Local makerspace has a bunch. They're quiet, efficient units. I recommend PETG - it doesn't bridge as well as some, but it has great adhesion, very low warp, and doesn't require extra cooling or heated enclosures. Have fun with your build!

this is actually my second machine, my other is a Craftbot+, and honestly, i prefer to do my work in PLA, its an easy material to print, layer adhesion is good, low temp, no smell, and CHEAP!! warping can be kept to a minimum if you work your bed temps right (i start higher and then drop it after the first couple layers) (i also upgraded my bed from Kapton to a Ninja Plate though they are now called PrintinZ.. that make a HUGE difference)..

right now, the rigidity of the PLA is a welcome addition to my prints, but if i need anything that's in need of PETG's strengths, ill be sure to check it out. im wary of ABS due to the need for a heated enclosure because of splitting, and the smell.

the other filament i was eyeballing was Ngen, really similar to PETG

another reason i picked up this machine was to be able to print some of the weirder, more abrasive filaments like carbon, metal and wood, as the E3d nozzle is the best there is.. and its easy to switch. (and get replacements for if something bad happens)
