Start establishing a "regulars" squad. These players have to be helpful to the field, used in emergencies, frequent ballers (probably have their own gear) and be EXCITED to play with rentals. Having a firm concise team of regular players is very important. In return the field can offer these members (if you make it official) discounts, no field fee, or other money saving options in return for their service. It has been a blast to be a "regular" at my field and I know that if the field called me I would gladly do anything for them and they always offer me a way to save some cash in the long run. Also official teams for airball and/or woodsball teams also helps establish a deep community.

This is a very interesting point and something I believe in too. Because paintball has become so segmented (with pump, milsim, speedball) there are so many markets to cater to. I am not a field owner, but I wish my field would sponsor (slight discount on paint, free entry - would ensure there is always a base level group at the field) an airball and milsim/magfed team that way you have more options at the field and more opportunities to introduce new people to different styles. This way, if 5 kids with magfed guns show up they can play with the magfed team rather than hitting a speedball course, and vice versa.

Most importantly though, it allows competitive players (speedball) to play among themselves and not mingle with people looking for a specific experience (pump, magfed, milsim). Not to say one style is better than the other, just that these styles typically dont mix well.

one thing ive done is give one of the newer players a bag of fire crackers and smoke bombs.. and the mission is to blow the bridge or fort or similar. this way the experienced players kind of need to escort the demo guy.

if working with birthday groups Ive labeled the birthday boy the kid with the "poison boot".. we then placed 5-6ish traffic cones around some remote objective, or in a long snake through a field. the mission was for the kid to kick over the cones with his poison boot.

300 we gotta take this and modify it.

Get some Thunder B's, provide 2 for every rental type group, and blow the weapons cache in the new field. WHAT WHAT!

I'm going to suggest this to my local field, I think it's a fantastic option.
