Why does it seem like everyone uses photobucket?

From the looks of it, photobucket's latest business model/strategy/policy changes appear to be destroying this forum (and probably most forums). I'm seeing countless placeholders like this one on so many threads:

I never really cared for using photobucket (I always ended up finding something i liked more) but this solidifies my abstinence from it. Here's the information on what enabling 3rd party hosting entails:

And here's some alternatives I use/used because  :censored:  them:

Postimage.org (my new favorite go-to site, used them for this thread as a matter of fact)
tinypic.com <- i think tinypic is already pretty popular already, but they've stood the test of time as far as i know. Still got age old pics there still going strong (and free)

Hope this helps, cheers

This site has been rampant with venom for Photobucket. I use Imgur and have not had any issues at all.

Photobucket was easy to use, and it was a free service. IMGUR doesnt' seem like it's as easy to find my old photos that I uploaded. However, I'll never use Photobucket again; they broke the internet.

I have hundreds of photos uploaded to heir servers from all my years, that I ca never share on the internet ever again.

They are actively making it difficult to download your albums as well, CLEARLY trying to make it difficult so you might give up and pay their fee (which is just ridiculous btw).

Screw 'em. Take the time to get what you need and use someone else.

Learn from this experience. Save all the photo's you upload in a directory so should something happen to another photo/video repo you have them already and don't need to waste your time downloading.

Flickr is also a decent website

I've been unable to share to MCB from the phone app. Which is annoying. In order to get photo links I have to log onto a pc

Photobucket was always f'in slow and full of ads. I don't know why anyone would have used it.

If you have an account with Imgur (free) you can save all of your photos into a big gallery.

It's a ****ty business model. If they were smart they would of thought of a way to watermark their pics with ads, where a premium subscription would remove that.

It's easily traceable ad revenue that doesn't break years of forum posts. Now everyone is just going to go elsewhere.

I hope they go out of business for their stupidity and short sightedness.
