It can be made to work extremely well, but isn't quite as easy as video leads you to believe. Here is a quick video Volpin Props did on it.

Good find!

Edit: Watching. Opinions: application - still tricky, but still MUCH better than the proprietary systems they used to have. Works for me, I have many airbrushes. Durability - he was touching bare paint, rubbing it with his fingers and it wasn't dulling or leaving giant fingerprints. That's still HUGE to me, every other chrome paint I've used so far is fragile to the touch without topcoat, and topcoating is usually proprietary and dulls the reflectivity.

I agree with him. Not the holy grail, but the best so far. I'd like to see how the thicker applications withstand buffing after a thorough cure.

-Actually, almost all the "chrome" or gold cars you see are vinyl wraps. Usually cost about $10K to do, too, which is why you never see a chrome-wrap VW beetle or Ford Pinto.

Not surprised to find a Beetle since people are always doing something crazy with them. I doubt you could find a Ford Pinto though, as they don't have the same cult following as Beetles. Kind of looks like a Pinto behind the chrome Beetle above, but not chrome obviously.

After I typed that I thought to myself y'know, I probably shouldn't have said that, because surely somebody has done it.

Bonus points for getting both a Beetle and a Pinto in the same photo though. See me after class for your cookie.
