Back in my day, to be really cool, you made your gun up to look like a "real" gun- the more realistic it was, the cooler you were.

Back in my day, accessories were the key- the more stuff you could add on to the gun, like sights, silencers and foregrips, the cooler you were.

Back in my day, pumps, 12-grams and 10-round tubes were the king. Paint wasn't cheap, so you tried to use as little as possible during a game.

Back in my day, skill was rewarded- you were happy to only get one elimination a game, if it took a lot of sneakiness and skill to get that one, especially against an opponent with flashier, fancier or faster equipment.

Back in my day, there weren't any local stores that carried paintball gear, so you had to order it from an out-of-state company.

Back in my day, there wasn't any paintball on TV, you had to hear about tournaments and other big events days or even weeks later.

Back in my day, there were only a few manufacturers of good gear, and it always seemed like you could never afford the best stuff.

Back in my day, the paint never seemed to fit the barrel well... wait, what day is it again?

My friends and I all started playing back in '88. We used to rent PGP's from the local surplus store and spend all weekend hunting each other. Nelson was the paint we bought from the surplus store, until they c as me out with that new Cal Mag stuff. Black Beauties were our favorites by far.
One of the local guys bought an SL-68 and a case of Cal Mag and then stopped playing. 8 years later we ran into him and asked him if he wanted to sell the gun. He asked us if we wanted the case of paint to go with it!
We took it out of his closet opened up the 200 round boxes and that stuff shot perfectly!
It was a blast being the guys on the field with neon yellow fill that no one could see coming.
