Stupid question but ill ask anyways

how often do you clean your foam.
I am having a hell of a time with breaking out the day after I play along my nose and cheeks. not an allergic break out but pimples. Im 46 that crap should be in the past. Ive tried washing the foam but it doesnt seem to help
new masks seem to be fine for 5 or 6 uses then its break out time

Sounds like you are allergic to the paint. Maybe something you can put on your face before you play that can help. I wash mine when it gets all painted up dawn and water. I have thrown them in the dishwasher before I was married lol.

I think I've wiped mine down like three times, ever. No real issues with breakouts. And I have awful, oily skin.

I do notice when I borrow a mask that other types of foam seem a bit harder on the skin. My Grillz seems to work great.

If your skin is more sensitive to dirty mask foam pressed against it, you might try a few things:
- cleaning foam often, as you said
- rinsing or wiping your face between games
- wearing a sweat proof sunscreen to keep your foam from scrubbing stuff into your pores
- readjusting your goggle strap or wearing thicker head gear to relieve some mask pressure on your face

I've had good luck with using RTV silicone and duct tape to seal my mask to my face.

After that, it doesn't matter if I break out or not, and all my friends say I'm a lot more pleasant to look at.

Sometimes skin and allergen resistance changes over time. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. If breakouts are that specific, I wouldn't rule out allergy.

Grillz. Soak in water only after a day of play and let dry overnight. I think I have fairly oily skin. No breakouts that I've noticed. Guess I'll be watching closer now though.

I always wash my foam with warm water after a day of play then take a dry cloth and gently dab out the rest of the water to dry it out.

Way back in the day I used to get occasional breakouts after play, especially in the summer. No more.

Now, masks get cleaned every day after play, no exceptions.

I make a dilution of Dawn and water in a spray bottle and hose the foam liberally, gently work in, rinse thoroughly, and gently smoosh dry with a clean towel.

Same for the strap.

Have done this for years and years with no deterioration of materials, and no breakouts.

Try getting an aftermarket foam kit - I got one for my I4s, and it had a fuzzy top layer.

There's a good chance it is contact dermatitis - an allergic reaction - to a material in the foam. Changing up the foam is a worthy experiment I'd think. Sometimes a dandruff shampoo like Selsun can help stave off weird skin stuff, too, at least in infants... Maybe worth a try?

im going to try the dawn solution. Its not like a bunch of pimples more like a few of the deep down ones.
I am not an oily person, but my nose and cheek area are very oily after each game for a few days
