Meteor raffles

Something about Meteor going out of business then holding raffles on a handful of markers screams “shady” to me. That, however, does not mean I didn’t throw my hat in the ring for one of the markerS.

I was wondering if anyone else is partaking in the raffles?

What are your thoughts on it?

I know people who are getting the stuff they win. I put in for some of the frames that went up.

Threw in for a few different ones. Meteor are a bunch of stand up guys, the US team just wants to clear the decks as they close down.

They could either sell their extra stock at a loss or let people try to win one. Allows folks who couldn't afford a brand a Meteor marker to have a chance to win one. I'm all for it.

I didn’t mean it in a way that suggested they were ripping people off.
I just always feel like raffles are questionable and, I believe, run into legality issues with taxes. I could be wrong.

I, personally, like the idea and don’t necessarily agree with them being against the rules on most forums. If people are willing to pay and someone is going to make money...
My whole thing is that is has to be fully transparent... no bull**** (we all remember the charity raffle from months ago).

I don’t think there is a way to get around taxes. If they can awesome! I wish I could figure out a way to reduce my government theft.

I’m mostly just curious to see if any MCB’er wins. The rest was a side thought!

So Gant used the Meteor FB page to say they were going out of business, and that inventory would be raffled off, but you could still buy products before the raffles (so I bought myself a Feather frame). But a short while after that announcement, Fabrice spoke up and made it clear that Meteor was not gone, but Meteor USA was gone, and that he was still making new product and such.

Sounds weird. Their facebook page and ordering process in general was always absolutely awful. The site went up and that was nice, then it went down before this announcement.

Gant and Fabrice are both great people. I have talked to both more than a handful of times.

Im sure he sees it as an opportunity to move as much product as he can, while also allowing everyone the opportunity to be involved/win.

The original facebook post seems to be a miscommunication between Gant and Fabrice aswell as everyone else.
