That stuff dates to the late 90s/early '00s. That's how ALL sports were being marketed. I could coat a continent in titty calendars supplied by aftermarket car parts manufacturers.
I never blamed anything on a model. Its the marketing overall.

If you attract one customer but repel two then you're shrinking your audience not expanding it or even treading water. And you'll never get feedback from the people who left, only the ones that stay and think everything is great because they are the ones being marketed to directly (you, it sounds like).

You can say what you want but paintball stores and fields ARE closing all over and I'm sure there are many reasons but the sophomoric vibe that pervades many aspects of the sport is probably at least part of it. The tidal wave of ball jokes alone...its just...balls balls balls. There are a hundreds terms for something that plugs or caps a pipe or hole but we had go with barrel "condom" because that's the one that involves wangs. Even an all gay mens baseball league wouldn't have as many ball jokes.

Makes it that much harder to get the scouts or the church groups interested...and yeah, I don't like them either but they keep the lights on and that's my point.

Not to get OT but Scouts are specifically not allowed to go paintballing as a Scout activity. They can shoot targets but not other people or anything with a face. The premise being that it goes against every tenet of gun safety they're trying to get them to follow.

-Yep. Not scouts, but back when I ran a field, we had more than a few potential players whose parents wouldn't let them play because they saw it as contradictory to their gun-safety teachings.

And I get where they were coming from- and applauded the idea they were being taught gun safety in the first place- but really, after the kid is about 12-13 years old, unless he's a dolt, he or she can- or should be able to- tell the difference between a firearm and a paintball gun, and thus the appropriate venues to use either one.

Doc.

your wife/girlfriend doesn't want you to go to play this sport that advertises the sport with tiddies that are not hers.... therefore, you can't go

Funny my wife chases me out of the house occasionally and tells me to go play paintball. Both my wife and daughter played regularly during the 90s and early 2000s when the "height of sexism" was rampant. Never seemed to bother them. Wife doesn't play anymore (she's getting old ) but my daughter has been trying to convince her husband they need to get their own gear and play regularly.

There seems to be an overly sensitive element to our society I for one just laugh at them. If the **** ever does hit the fan they'll be sorted (culled to be more blunt).
