It's good to be back in the game!!!

So I recently purchased a 1-year membership to the local paintball field...

For the past 3 or 4 weeks, I have been paintballing every Thursday and Sunday.

In this time I have scraped my knees and elbows to the point that they just won't heal. I have twisted my right ankle to the point I bought football cleats for no more excuses. And I pulled my left hamstring on Thursday, but still played again yesterday...

So I was limping my way to work this morning, laughing like a madman about how wonderful it is to be back in the game.

I'm 34 years old, still playing with the same friends I paintballed with when we were 11.

PAINtball is my therapy.

Thanks.

It probably doesn't have to hurt this bad, but apparently I still only have one speed on the field, and it's all out, all the time.

I'm the same way man, I try to move like a lithe 175lb teenager when I'm a thicc 30-something. Best thing you can do is treat your body well before and after, stretch, lots of water, eat good food, take vitamins (I highly recommend glucosamine for your joints, it helped me significantly.

Balls to the wall guy, do it.

I'm doing a lot of stretching now, but it is retroactive... the damage is already done. I'm just trying to keep the tennis ball sized knot in my hamstring from solidifying, if that makes any sense.

At first I approached this with the same hubris as when I was young.

"Does a lioness limber up before she takes down a gazelle?" -Woody Harrelson/Zombieland

But I definitely need to take better care of myself if I plan to maintain this tempo.

yeah its one of the main reasons I went back to the gym last year, to get in better shape to help the recovery process.

Absolutely. I've been working on my legs and core and it's made a big difference. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a fat bastard, but dammit there's muscle under there somewhere!

I Just bought a gun after a 5 year hiatus. Cant wait for it to come in and start hurting myself again.

Still have some gear to collect before i can play again, mask, tank, hopper, pod pack but at the top of that list is knee pads... My knee's are garbage which i assume is from crawling around and kneeling on roots and rocks every weekend from age 11 to 21.
