D3FY D3S, how is it?

So, my father in law has pretty much always owned poppets and he is thinking of trying out a spool. Doesn't have the highest budget and we already have 2 rails on our team so looking for something different.

I noticed ans is selling the d3s at $180 but I really don't know much about it. So, opinions? Experiences?

QMTO did a pretty good review of them. Basically its the Rogue in a plastic clamshell to bring costs down.

Damn smooth shooters. Make sure you dial back the reg before airing it up the first time.
They also are gas hogs

They aren't bad. My buddy's kid shoots one and when I've used it/teched it, it was smooth to shoot and quick for field stripping. That qmto vid is pretty great too.

Personally I think they are awful.
I have worked on two of them and was not impressed with any aspect of them.

Ok, so probably not getting a d3s then. It seems like it's around a ion quality and we are just looking for something better than that

So what would you guys recommend in the $2-300 range? New or used

Must be spool, not a pmr

Valken Code?
A lot of the Dye lineup can be had for that or less, from what Ive seen recently but Ive no idea how good some of their recent releases are.
Maybe a Proton? Mines pretty nice for the money and required just a new velocity adjuster face seal.

An older DM would probably be in that range. Is Etha 2 an option for you?

Crap I keep forgetting the code is spool. O always think it's a mini on the inside

Proton is definitely on the list of possible

Care to give a quick review of it?

Etha 1 is poppet. Etha 2 has the gamma core.

Valken code and proton are both poppets
