I love how this is following almost exactly the same trajectory as four years ago. NO BAN! KIDS THESE DAYS!

Consider watching the video, or reading the original post in full.

Field I went to a long time ago had "walk on rules"

You could shoot your own marker, semi auto only, and you could only use 1 finger on the trigger.

I still play this way a lot today. I get to shoot whatever I want, don't blast through paint and after a few games the new players realize I have basically the same fire rate that they do. Everyone wins

We gotta ban kids these days from paintball.

It’s the only course of action

I get that you are saying this in sarcasm but at the same time it seems to me that the age limit at a lot of fields has gone down as the years have gone on. I'm sure this doesn't help all of the above mentioned problems

Not to deter kids from trying the game at a young age, but given enough people at least separate the walk ins and rentals. Or heavily favor the walk ins during games

Even before I quit shooting electros much, I was easy on walk-ons, so Im posting again now that Ive had some more thought time.

And its still the same. Play what you want to play. Most of the time newbies will be intimidated by you for just having proper pants and your own equipment period. Its your job to assist your newbies, and that means swapping teams now and then. Not hamstringing yourself because you must, instead of because you can.

Further: In my experience, the single worst thing for a newbie to encounter is ANOTHER newbie who had a bigger budget and no trigger control. Not the old coot.

I don't play on a team, haven't been involved with tournaments or big games or scenarios. I've always been a lonewolf walk on player. Come to think of it, my only close paintball pals stopped playing long ago.
I have a hard time owning more than one marker at a time. Even when I can afford it. My mind changes a lot (just happened again recently) and in the true MCB way I buy/sell/trade markers often, usually without ever firing. Or after a couple times out. I always gravitate back towards pump. As much as I think I want to shoot more ballz off, I can't pull myself away from pump. Sure, I can own one marker for each function but I never feel it's necessary. Maybe one day.

The couple of places I do go out to, which isn't very often, it's 90%+ rentals. Sometimes people with their own gear show up. So in these cases, pump play is perfect.

That said, you can be armed with either a sling shot or the nicest newest electro ever and still show new players a great time and not be a douche.

I've seen this far more than I've seen experienced players bagging on new players, which brings it all back to the issue of discipline.

Well, it sort of is, but the RIGHT kind.

As in, no, your .50 BMG is not the appropriate tool for squirrel hunting.

No, it's illegal to use your deer rifle to hunt geese. That kind of gun should not be shot up into the sky (what goes up, must come down).

And so on.

This applies to all aspects of life.

No, it's not appropriate to hang a picture with a 10lb sledgehammer.

No, it's not appropriate to putt with your driver when playing golf.

No, it's not appropriate to drive your top fuel dragster to the grocery store.

And this makes me think, is it really appropriate to show up to my Nephew's rental paintball party with the same gear I'd use in a tournament?

Nope. I show up with a few pumps, a few mag fed guns, and a couple mechs.

Sure it is.

There's 2 sides to this,

1) what the equipment is capable of
2) how much of those capabilities you choose to use

Most of the examples you have the situations that the physical equipment is over powered, but in paintball, everything shots at 285fps, the same projectile and the same range. The thing that can change is the ROF. YOU have control of that. And heck, if you don't trust yourself I'm willing to bet that speedball marker can have a cap of like 6bps placed on it. Again, something YOU control.

So if you are shooting at 6bps how is this inappropriate equipment? It looks different? What is it able to do that your nephews equipment can't?
