Ray Gong talks with Bud Orr about the process of Legalizing Paintball in New Jersey
This is a long video but Ray and Bud cover some really interesting history that likely set a precedent for many other states in terms of paintball marker legality.
In this video from last year Ray Gong tells the fascinating of how, up until 1988, New Jersey considered Paintball Markers firearms, so starting a field in the state would never work out.
After playing a couple times Ray decided he wanted to look into the state's classification of paintball markers. After a talk with Russell Maynard and a trip to California he began working with Russell Maynard, Jessica Sparks and Bud Orr to change their status.
Ray used a .50 caliber Sniper 1 at the trial as evidence, which used a constant air co2 tank instead of a cartridge.
The main factor the judge based the final ruling on in 1988 was that a 12 gram cartridge was fundamentally different than a cartridge used in a firearm.
To explain this Bud Orr detailed the definition of a cartridge from some Hoppes' literature. Ray explains that "the judge agreed with us, 12 gram cartridge or powerlets have nothing to do with a real firearm cartridge."
We recorded this video with Ray Gong and Bud Orr a year ago at Linh's Charity Event in Perris California.
Scans that Ray provided are uploaded here. Mostly newspaper articles detailing his timeline with Top Gun (no facebook account required to view these images):

That being said, if you call yourself out on a bounce shot (knowing it was skill that hit you and "luck" that saved you) , you may qualify for sainthood

So wait, did I understand this correctly that NJ officials were so brain dead that they thought and never bothered to actually check, that a 12 cartridge was the same thing as a bullet casing?

I could listen to Ray Gong talk for hours.
He is a natural story teller.
