This MAn speaks the truth. My girlfriend picked up my DM5, she's never played in her life, and she started walking the trigger faster than I can! :O I'm scared!

-albeit I suck at walking triggers, I'm too used to singles and pumps.

Hmm... an all Mech league would be cool, but as aforementioned, how would the BPS laws be enforced?

Hmm... I saw a guy with a RT Pro mag that was walking/RTing up to 15 or so IIRC watching over the chrono. And I've seen some guys ripping on Cockers. (that sounds horribly wrong. Just throwing that out there.)

There's a guy at the rec field I go to who has a single trigger Tippman RT'ing like crazy. Policing markers like that would be just as fun to police as the current group.

only problem is .
mechs , at least all mine , are more inconsistent with velo . iv seen electros hit 285 for 50 shots in a row . but a mech like a tippmann or a cocker iv seen in 50 shots a whole lot of diff velocitys . nles you have a good regulater and a wel tuned gun . now with mech alot of poepl are gonna go with the tippmann and co2 . and thats a lot of spikes right there . i played with my procarbine and was shooting 250 , 260 , 255 , 234 , all over . so you waould have to have it regulated and tuned really good so you dont go over due to somehitng wrong with the spring inside the cup seal or somthign . dont kow if im makeing a whole lof of sense ;

BPS has very little, if anything, to do with velocity. FPS is always set somewhere in the 250-300 range. BPS is a bit harder to control on a mech, but most mechs can pull 8-10 bps

I think he's referring to the recharge rate. It doesn't matter how fast the gun can fire if it can't recharge fully after each shot to put the next ball at the same velo as the last.

even then... the FPS could only go lower than a fully charged shot....unlesss i missed something completely.

i mean think about it. you're not going to use CO2 in a tourney game... that would be kinda silly. you wouldn't be using non-inline regged HPA... that would be almost as bad as using CO2. so basically you'll be using a gun with a HPA tank and a inline reg of some sort. i've never had a shot fluctuate more than about 5 FPS either way on my rather loosely tuned cocker.

Pretty much all modern mechanical blowbacks have a max rate of 40cps.
That means if you could pull the trigger 40 times within one second, the gun will shoot 40 full cycles.

Blowbacks are the fastest design in paintball. Much faster then mags. That silly video was just a promotional stunt to help offset the long-held myth that mags are SLOW guns.

So, I think your point is that, if a paintball league were to cap the BPS at, say, 10bps, what would prevent a mechanical gun from limiting that speed? I've often thought about the same thing.

The very argument highlights the fundemental problem with the argument- You really cant. A far better approach is to limit paint to such a level that its a DISADVANTAGE to fire fast. I've played a few limited-paint tournaments in my life, and its a thrilling experience. There is a level of complexity simply not found in typical "most paint wins" games.

I once saw a vid of a spyder going 50cps.

Of course, that had to be without paint, and the trigger disabled.
