How to destroy a DSG, and hopefully save it

Edit to add: I am really happy with getting this marker, I got a great deal on it and look forward to trying to save it

I'm sure many people have wondered how to do it, I think I've figured it out. Takes a couple steps.

1. Allow the hammer lug to loosen up so it slams forward and back, deforming the hammer.
2. Hammer the hammer out for maintenance.
3. Hammer the hammer back in

There is a giant groove down the bottom from the front to the hammer slot, and a bunch of punch marks in the bore from a screwdriver or something maybe. I dremeled the hammer smooth while it was still in the marker so I could get it out, to avoid making the problem even worse.

Next step, to see if I can save the bore on this baby so it seals. The grooving is pretty bad though, honing it smooth may remove too much material for the O-rings to seal nicely.

Ouch.

I would think flex honing should work.

It may, the grooves and pits are pretty deep so I'll have to be cautious, just doing a bit at a time to smooth it out without blowing out the bore. Its hard to get my camera to focus and capture how bad the inside is.

Hammer lug? I'm confused. The DSG connects the bolt and hammer through external linkages, and the sear catches on a groove in the hammer. So what lug are you talking about? Or did Dukie use a different hammer in later generations?

The bolt that sticks out the bottom for the pump to catch on. It slammed back and forth, creating lumps to the front and back of the threaded hole.

I have spare hammers.

Why on earth would someone try to take the hammer out the front? It comes out the bottom when you remove the trigger block. Would take a lot less hammer to move it 1 inch versus 6.

It may have been hammered out the back, and then hammered back in from the front. At some point in time this was brutally taken apart, and brutally put back together.

The hammer itself is in alright shape I think, I just took a minute to hit with a dremel before I tried taking the marker apart and it slides right out now.

Cool, do you still have any of the lever assemblies in stock? This lever is bent and gouged, and what I'm guessing is supposed to be a little wheel on the plunger is crushed flat. Trying to gauge what I can just replace and what needs to be knocked into shape.
