What are you eating right now?

What's some of your favorite health foods? I've been surprised to find I really like some things that I didn't expect because they were only sold as healthy.

Other than the sodium, I consider jerky a low carb snack. In the nuts and berries category, I like Mary's Gone Crackers.

I kind of like the taste of soy, but never found a particular food made with it that I liked as much as plain soy milk.

What's good? We need a food thread in the fitness forum.

Chicken. Eggs. Eggs. Chicken.
Smother in olive oil and hot sauce. With some broccoli. Doesn't get any healthier.
I'd stay away from soy though.

I used to go to a hole in the wall chinese place that had some lightly oiled beef and broccoli. I could eat it three times a week. Fortunately there were no seconds on rice.

If you're not a salad eater, Chick-fil-a cobb salad is like salad training wheels.

My heart patient cohorts were told to eat yogurt with granola mixed in. I'll do it on occasion. It's healthy, low cal, and filling, but kind of minimal on texture.

I've had a variety of protein drinks, but they tend to have too much sugar for me. I should look at cutting their standard portions.

I'm on my lunch right now, eating a poppy seed bagel & cream cheese with a Minute Maid sparkling citrus drink

Edit: just realized it's not "right now" lol

Healthy options...fruit and vegetable smoothies, nuts and legumes, high protein/low carb dinners.

Any decent protein powder brand won't have much sugar in it. Look for 100 percent isolate. Gold standard is a good one but I order mine direct from manufacturers these days.

Not a big fan of the whole Granola / yogurt craze. Way too much sugar. Yeah it's low cal. But the low cal craze is over rated and doesn't work. High fat and moderate protein is the way to go. Granola should be reserved for those who are doing like extreme sports or what have you.

My wife and I bought a vegetable spiralizer. I was 100% opposed to it, but we probably use the thing 4 nights a week now, and have probably tripled our vegetable intake. I have been pleasantly surprised, and we have both lost weight without making any other major changes.
