Help me price my truck
I'm looking to sell my 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 but I have only kbb to refer to, but 3k seems high. I'll post pics after work but here's the rundown.
Mechanically it's fine, no motor or trans issues.
Only rust is the tailgate and passenger doors, bottoms are rotted away.
Has a Ford bed liner.
Back quarter doors do not currently open.
Has a front fender that got mangled, doesn't need to be replaced unless you want to.
Has it's share of scratches and a few dings, I used it as a truck to haul all sorts of stuff.
Looking for an idea of a price for a private sale since the car I'm looking to replace is at a small local dealer who is picky with trade-ins.

I don't know about NY, but down here in GA total POS trucks still fetch pretty good money.
One of the bigger things I saw commonly taking old vehicles off the road up "nath" was the rust holes making where it wouldn't pass inspection...
Anyway, you know the answer to these questions online is always "about tree fiddy"

Also look at Craigslist and www.autotrader.com
Trucks hold their value very well. I would price at NADA trade in avg. You can always lower the price.

Working running 4x4 in NY is worth $2k should be able to get $2500
Ask $3k go from there. $2500 more then likely what you will get for it. Unless it's really Beat, Needs tires, breaks, won't pass inspection.
Dealer won't give you much for it because thats a $1k Auction car and there a dime a dozen. They won't keep it on the lot because there is no room to make money flipping it, and it Cost a bit of cash just for just the paper work required transfer ownership (NY got to get their cut). Good news is people are always looking for cars in that price range. Kids just starting driving, someone looking for reliable transportation to get to work, or a plow truck. $2k-3K is easy to get for most people. Should sell quick.

Try and replace that steelie with a matching wheel off of kijiji if you can. It should pay for itself with how much more and faster the truck should sell with 4 matching wheels.
