Here the dashcam video of the run. First and second went fine, but when I went for third the clutch wouldn't release.

Had the clutch replaced yesterday. Fortunately the damage was all on the pressure plate side so I was able to reuse the flywheel. All the friction material melted off the back of the disc, so it was metal on metal at the pressure plate.

This break-in period is going to be torture

What clutch are you using? Stock and "sport" clutches can't handle constantly launching at high rpm's.

Was the factory clutch with 117,000 on it. I put in another oe clutch and chalked it up to user error. This is just my daily driver, I don't intend to keep racing it. Was just curios to see what it could do.

And now you know the answer. Destroy a factory clutch.

Ya, a oe clutch with 120k miles prob was due to be changed out anyways, so you probably only had a very thin skin of material left.

If you are going to race again on a stock clutch you should fully engage the gear before launching. You of course will not get fast times but you won't kill your clutch after launching a few times.

You've got basically two options if you want to start racing. Either buy "cheap" racing clutches for your car, and expect to change them somewhat more often than you'd probably like, or invest in a quality one and need to change it out maybe once a year depending on how often you race. Day to day driving will suffer though.

There really isn't a good compromise for daily driving and drag racing.
