An accident like that is completely preventable. If the pilot had done proper pre-flight calculations, he would have known how far it would have taken to take off, and selected an abort point to decide for the no go. He obviously wasn't getting any kind of climb rate and was relying on ground effect to hold him aloft. As a private pilot, if I had been flying, I would have definitely aborted the flight during takeoff. There were multiple indications that he wasn't getting the performance desired, and that should have told him to end the flight before he got into the trees.

I shouldn't have watched that.

I'm a nervous flyer anyway. I fly once or twice a month for work, and another 4-5 times a year (always commercial) for personal travel, but I don't like it.

I typically read my book and pretend that I'm on the bus, because thinking about what's really going on freaks me out.

I literally felt sick to my stomach watching that.

I'm going on a ten hour flight on Sunday with two friends. I'm seriously tempted to troll them hard by showing them this video on my iPad RIGHT before the flight...

I don't mind flying, but I don't really enjoy it. Sitting in a noisy cab with a bunch of people while my ears feel like they are in my throat isn't
