Irony at its best

Canadian border guard bullies CBC Radio host | This is That with Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring | CBC Radio

So, CBSA officers are to undergo new training to be more friendly. Senior Customs Training Officer Murray Swift demonstrate why!

Actually I think it is a joke. From their website

This Is That is a current affairs program that doesn't just talk about the issues, it fabricates them. Nothing is off limits--politics, business, culture, justice, science, religion--if it is relevant to Canadians, we'll find out the "This" and the "That" of the story.

Each week, hosts Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring introduce you to the voices and stories that give this country character in this 100% improvised, satirical send-up of public radio.

Not surprised in the least. Having crossed the border dozens of times; paintball, fishing, cottaging in the Adirondacks, etc. It didn't take long for me to realize that my apprehension was misplaced. I've looked more and more to the politeness and courtesy of US Border Patrol and less and less to CBSA. My last few experiences, especially, have convinced me that the majority of their front line staff have a massive chip on their shoulder and are sorely in need of an attitude adjustment. Worst thing we could have ever done is equip them with firearms; power gone straight to their heads. Akin to a mall-guard thinking their police officers. Ego x 10.

It's a joke

This is a satirical radio show called This Is That. They come up with strange stories and do FAKE interviews for laughs. They're just making fun of the fact that people say border guards are jerks. Usually it's hilarious. Once they interviewed a Parks Canada Officer (actually an actor) and discussed charging people a fee for seeing wildlife in canadian parks.
