Stuff like this happens all the time, even in free states.

Meanwhile, all developed cities smell constantly of burning diesel and natural gas fuels from buses. I guess you'd have to visit see if the smell is really a nuisance.

Didn't it say something like 1400 people? That's pretty small. I consider Vail to be pretty small and it's over 20k people. I can't really imagine 1400 people small and them all being piled next to this new-ish factory.

If the factory I used to work at can contain the smells of all the volatile chemicals used on site, then there has to be some kind of equipment that could be installed at the sriracha plant that could do the same. Rotary thermal oxidizer maybe? If the plant weren't new I would side with them, but they came into the town recently and the onus is on them to be good neighbors. I'm not saying they should be shut down but there needs to be a compromise if its really causing the problems claimed. Like I said, look at some kind of stack exhaust processing or filtering. There has to be a way to contain any harmful or irritating particulates to the site.

The city's suit led to a court order for the plant to cease most operations.[8] [9]
That right there explains it in my book. So they didn't complain until Huy Fong stopped contributing $250k/year to a city of 1400?

The smell I remember being really bad was the Pulp Mills in Prince George BC during my tree planting days.

That nelspot never needs lube, shoots 2,000 ball per second, never needs reloaded, doesn't require an air source and when the paintball hits somebody the result is the same as if Chuck Norris round house kicked them.
He nick named the gun Reggie.

If that is the case the city is stupidly greedy . The city/county is still making big bucks on the property tax and business tax . I don't know the formula in their city/county to figure out their business license tax but I bet at 300million in sales if that is true the city will be getting a good chunk of change. A large company like this is good for the tax rolls and the local economy.

I sold under $500k last year in Santa Ana and I had to pay a pretty penny .

My thoughts exactly,

I think OPBN really nailed it. What the hell is wrong with the people we have let govern us?
