I thought the precedent was established in the 80's when Beta Ray Bill was deemed worthy of Mjolnir. Is a woman in the role of Thor that much more outlandish than an alien?
Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?

And not really angry or anything like that...just does not make sense to do it while massive amounts of money are being made using the man as Thor and showing him shirtless.....
Same with the Captain America bit they are doing....they are making tons of money off current Captain and getting lots of new readers...even with Walking Dead...comic sales have shot up...if the comics were about Lori and Carlitta instead of Rick and Carl then people switching over would have been like "WTF"
Deviation in the comics is nothing new...but you don't rock a money boat.

from what i got at my local comic book store. is thor does something to make him not worthy of hammer and lose all his powers and ability to hold hammer or use it powers. so looks like some from Asgard will be taking over hammer. do not know what caused him to be not worthy to hold hammer or what caused him not righteous in eyes of hammer.

My bigger beef is that yet again, a female superhero has to have giant breasts and armor that makes her look more like a themed porno. I'm not even coming at it from a feminist perspective, it's just that after all these decades of comics, aren't we past fan service? What was wrong with the way they portrayed Lady Sif in the Thor movies that they couldn't give a female Thor more of that look?

Moderating From Above
This is a terribly stupid move on Marvel's part. The Thor book actually just got pretty good for the first time in years. I have no issues with others wielding mjolinar. But this is is just pandering.
And to all of those who posted about others wielding the hammer, they never became Thor. Beta Ray Bill was still him, he just got the hammer and the powers and eventually got his own hammer. Same with Cap, he did not turn into Thor. And this is supposed to be a pretty long arc, not just a few issues or a one-shot.
And someone mentioned Starbuck, was not based on an actual piece or norse mythology.
Here is the real issue. All of this pandering and PC nonsense is crap. Marvel tried to have female centric/female lead books the last few years. Every single one of them got canceled. And they had their well established characters too. So instead of the over used, trite gender bending, why don't they just make a new character. Or maybe do something with an existing character, like Sif. Nope, were just going do the cheap, easy way.
Also, for those saying its ok because boobs... Check out the armor, pretty blatant weak spot center of the chest. Not to mention that armor isn't made that shape.
And this whole thing was announced on the view and then got a small article on Time.com written by their culture and women/feminist person. If that doesn't tell you the real motivating factor in this decision, then you should go re-read the articles.
I have an idea, let us make the Black Panther a white guy from Wakanda, because there is a disproportionate amount of white kings in fantasy Africa.
Also, the quotes from Aaron, he is the writer not the artist. And he is pretty good too. So this story arc might be half way decent. But it is still a stupid Fin move.
Last edit: They also announced that Sam "the Falcon" Wilson, black dude, will be taking up the mantle of Captain America. But guess what, he is not becoming Steve Rogers.
