Well that's what happens when you create a robot with a devastating weapon, but can't deal with being overturned.

One hope I have is that it doesnt become a game of reversible wedges vs reversible wedges. The old show did that from time to time and the battles got rather boring at that point.

I want to see "blend-o" make a return. That thing was a monster motor mounted on wheels. It ate up anything and everything.

to me they show done regionals show where top 16 gone for main battle. that way some top builders would not take all spots in round of 16. we got idea from show robot wars from uk.

Agreed. The unfortunate thing is a reversible wedge seems to be the most effective way of stopping any bot that is not, itself, a reversible wedge. All these spinning weapons and everything seem as likely to damage the wielding bot as the bot its wielded against if the bot on the receiving end has any form of armor.

What is up with the mini-bots BTW? So I can make a bot susceptible to getting stuck / overturned and have a mini-bot there to help?

I'm under the impression that teams have a weight limits, and that they can have as many robots as they like, so long as they all weigh in under that limit.
I've also read that the "walking" robots are allowed to be heavier than the standard weight limit, in order to compensate the lack of mobility.

...but since the show didnt' say anything about these rules, I can only speculate.

It's the veteran builders that seem to be embracing them, oddly enough.

I think it's for multiple reasons. One is for sacrificial attacks, big spinny wheel'o'death disabled when an RC car gets stuck in the wheel for example. See exploding firebreathing mini-wedges used by Warrior Clan.

Two, main bot gets turtled and will take a bit to right itself, the active mini-bots may mean that the bot is still considered active and won't get counted out. I'll have to check the ruled on this.

Three, as you said, occasional assistance getting unstuck. The driver of Plan X called for one of her mini-bots to help her get unstuck. The shape of her mini-bots seem to point to reason one as well, though they were under utilized.

Four, and this may be a big factor, you get to have more friends in the control booth with you. Easy way to get your best friend on TV, even if they know squat about driving a bot.

I heard they removed the bonus weight for walkers (though not confirmed). Could be why Wrecks had difficulties. If it was built to be a Medium class bot with a weight bonus, but ended up fighting in the Heavy class (which is the only class on-air), the design makes a little more sense. It wouldn't have been pushed around as easily by a Medium.

Why do I have to have Hulu Plus to watch this? Do they not want viewers?

The important parts, the actual fights, are viewable as clips. The rest is just filler.
