my belt uses magnets, its called maglock, its really simple, there's a magnet sewn into a "hollow" nylon belt, one piece is fixed, the other isn't,

i see no reason why you couldn't buy some magnets and replicate the setup with leather..

unless you need secondary retention instead of "just" magnets

I just looked that belt up. Real interesting design. But only feasible for cinching down and loosening real quick. Completely unbuckling still looks 2 handed and involved enough I might as well use a tried and true classic buckle.

basically I want to get this

to not look so motocross, hide it in/on leather straps, for something like

yeah, i see what you mean.. i think those buckles are probably going to be your best bet.. im so used to the bags like that having mock closures, i forget that they actually have ones with real buckles too

you can undo the belt one handed, but you do have to reposition your hand a bit to feed the material though. if you looking for true 1 handed with secondary retention, then yeah, i think those buckles are where its at

I did the thing but not for paintball(yet)

I'm happy with the outside of the buckle covering but the inside is still a mess and an unpleasant hybrid of leather and cord and crash rated polymers

but man, can you imagine being able to holster and unholster one handed, on your back or over your shoulder or under your arm, without looking and fumbling with button snaps, and still being able to run(fall down)?

Updating with a current project. Still not paintball related yet but I do still dream of secure but easy access holsters like this.
