Dirk gently's Hollistic detective agency

it's on Netflix and definitely worth the watch.

It's very much in the spirit Of Douglas Adam's books and I had a great time watching it.

Oh, it's on netflix finally? Nice, I haven't watched all of it, but was downloading it one by one as I watched it.

Nice.

Not on my Netflix, seems to not be available in the U.S. for some reason. Tomorrow I may play around with VPN's and see if I can get around it.

Same problem, but I found a work around. I never knew they made a series. I was a huge Douglas Adams fan when I was young, so I'll binge them all tonight

Found some place to watch and really really loved the show.

It is set some time after the books. There is a quick throwaway line in the first episode where he mentions some of the people he has met (ie like Thor). So the show itself is all original.

I liked the first 4 episodes much more then the last 4. Not that the last 4 were bad. But for the first 4 episodes, the storyline was complete chaos. Much like a Douglas Adams novel. You had 10 different story lines that didn't seem connected but you knew they had to be. I had no idea what was going to happen.

The last 4 episodes connected all the story lines.... A little more formulaic but lots of fun. Hope it gets renewed.

Kinda makes me sad that Adams died with basically just having Hithhikers Guide and Dirk Gently. I kinda felt like he spent the last 25 years of his life just milking the Hitchhikers Guide for everything he could.

Just watched the first episode after seeing this thread. I love it! Brilliant and weird. What books are they based on?

It is based on a book of the same name.

Its worth noting that only the character, Dirk Gently, comes from the books. Everything else in the TV show is original. However, the books have the same general weirdness.

There are 2 1/2 books in the series, all great. There are also radio plays, stage shows, and another series. Plus audio books for the lazy.
