Hmm sounds like you've come to collect on an estate sale or something
Or maybe my mind is being bad assuming this
Good luck if that be the case, try to get some overlooked precious metals or something hehe

i'm an art teacher and i have a piece of art by her.
if i ever get a "real" art teacher job in a public school i would like to hang original art in my class-room.

knowing who did the art piece and why is very helpful, it's dated 1973...
here's the part from her obit that was the clincher:

"Clara earned her BA degree, majoring in art from the College of New Rochelle. In 1972 Clara earned her Master's degree in Art from Montclair State University. Clara was employed by the Westfield Public School System as an art teacher, retiring in 1982 after 25 years of service."

A little tip I learned was go to garage and estate sales and flip any painting over. If the piece was ever run through an auction the auction house always puts their seal on it.

I was consulting for a business owner that told me this (non art related). He handed me a few unremarkable pieces that he got at a garage sale over the weekend. Sure enough I found other similar pieces by the same artists that sold from a few hundred to one that was worth over a thousand. The logic being that if its good enough to run at auction then it obviously has some value.
