Amazing indeed.
Do you think they really lost the video feed when the main body was landing, or do you think they cut the feed when they realized it was lost?
I have to admit I got a little chuckle out of watching the employees go from chanting "SPACE X!!!" In the lobby to concerned silence in a matter of a few seconds when that news came across.

Unless it fell onto someone's private island or something, I serious doubt they'd cut the feed.
Musk already said he estimated a 50/50 chance that something would explode, and in the past when one of the boosters did, the response was basically "Oops lol. That's why they're self-landing."
So far they've just taken all the failures in stride.

Other than the admittedly cool visual, what was the point of landing them simulataneously and so close together? I imagine there was considerable risk that if one had suffered some kind of landing mishap, shrapnel from a potential explosion might damage the other unnecessarily.

Showing off, if they could.
Or they only had limited space for it. They didn't seem to have the means to delay one.
