I am an ocean person after the tourist are gone in October. It is good until April. I do miss my mountain streams in Colorado though.

I live in Sandy Eggo . . . so I can be both! The beach is ~20mins away . . . and its an hour drive to Palomar Mtn (6100ft elevation, nice woods, great camping)

I'm much more of a mountain person, but I'd love to live close to the ocean as well. Problem for me is that most the areas that fulfill those tend to be opposite of my political/philosophical views.

That also describes Toronto, and probably Detroit, Buffalo, Niagara, maybe Montreal but that's more of a big river.

This is, essentially, an unresolved existential question for me. My family has a beach house so that's been a big part of my life, yet I've been a lifelong diehard skier which has been hugely influential for me as well. Maybe it'll always be a yin and yang kind of situation where I'll yearn for other if I'm away too long. Great question.
