Mountains for life. Oceans for vacation.

100% mountains. I dont particularly like the beach, or sand, or water. That and with the coast comes all the people. No thanks.

Besides, like has been said, if I feel like water theres plenty of nice lakes.

I'll base my answer on fishing. Freshwater fishing can get a little monotonous, but at the ocean you never quite know what you're going to reel in. I feel like I wouldn't get tired of living near the ocean, but I've never done it, so I don't know.

There should be a 3rd cattagory... coast people. Living in california i grew up in the lakes/rivers swimming holes, rafting camping ect, but often travel to do beach type stuff as well, skim board, surf, sand castles.. heh.

I grew up by the beach. Now I live in the valley and I love it. No mountains and no coast. Flatlands

In oregon, the mountains run right into the ocean (though not really mountains you ski on, but those are right across the valley). Best of all, the state owns all beaches, so none are private.
