Last year a day before my first mortage payment my furnace died. It was the blower motor and pressure switch. Luckily the house came with a 1 year warranty because it took the company 3 visits to fix it.

Heat pumps are not good for heating in cold climates. Gas heat is cheaper and more reliable.

You can get heat pumps with a gas piggyback.

When I have inspected homes and talked to the owners, I have been told they work great in upstate NY, even without a backup system.

The day we moved into our house our furnace died, we hoped to get atleast one year out of it. When they were removing it the whole furnace crumbled into pieces in my laundry room. After spending 52k on down payment and closing costs we had to spend another 8k on a new HVAC system.

What type of heat? Forced hot air? Hydronic? Steam?
