Did the Mamoth cave tour as a kid and been to a couple in PA as well, but don't recall the names. I've also toured an inactive copper mine in the MI UP, which was very cool.

Slightly funny store-

A couple years ago, we were camping in the White Mountains (NH). We decided to go to the "Polar Caves". Not really caves, in the traditional sense, but thousands of massive boulders that had fallen off a cliff, creating long narrow caves beneath.

So myself, with my wife and 2 kids are exploring the caves. I make an offhand remark "Hey honey, this is sorta like the movie Descent...", which she apparently forgot about, and suddenly she was pasty white, and ran out of the cave. This, while my kids were wondering off in opposite directions!

oh well. Another interesting cave was Dunmore Cave in ireland. Nothing special in itself, but it was part of a viking massacare where they chased thousands of local villagers into the cave, then started a fire at the opening to suffocate them. The bodies were only recently dicovered, making it very creepy.

I second Shadawg's reccomendation of Carlsbad.. Nowhere's else like it. There's a Crystal cave here in Spring Valley that is nice too.

THere's a bunch on the cliffs along the Missisipi in Minnesota, but people every now and again get caved in on when they build a fire inside, they are limestone.

on topic though my favorite caves are the bonnechere caves in Eganville in eastern ontario great cave system perfectly set up for tourists (they put down a type of board that lasts for 100+years when submerged and the pumps are turned off in winter so the cave re floods) great experience if you're in the area I think it's $10 to go IIRC

There's lots of caves here in N.Cal, in the gold country. I've been to a few in the past. Wife hates em, she gets claustraphobic.
