Mr5 Thompson SMG
I have plans to customise my Mr5 to look like a WWII thompson SMG.
With wooden foregrip and the wooden stock, i think the straight mags will look neat.
Any tips for working with wood or any ideas are greatly appreciated.
I plan to design an attachment for the stock that will screw into the current stock hole. I will post pics as I make slow progress.
This is a mock up drawing of what I plan it to look like when done.
this is an awesome idea, very cool.
you can often find real tommy wood parts on ebay, might be easier. or i also suggest maybe hollowing out the stock to lighten it up and add space for a barrels cleaner or a barrel sock.
That looks too cool.
Btw, did you sit next to Chip Foose in college? Hell of a sketch there! Everything I draw can be likened to Dali doing stick figures.
The drawing is just the little one from the Mr5 manual, I enlarged it till it was a4 on the photocopier and then just twinked out lines i didn't want and re photocopied and drew in the new lines.
As for Ebay parts, I'm in New Zealand to its a bit more of a mission to get parts shipped here :(
So far I'm trying to 3d model the parts in google sketchup to get the dimensions right.
I would need to use the backbottle kit and throw a 13/3k in that stock.
These are some pictures of the parts I modeled in Sketchup.
Here are some pictures of the stock adapter, made it up today.
Its made from swamp kauri
I have to trim some off the top because I forgot about the cocking bolt.
Oh and if anyone can point me to where I could find thompson stock measurements or plans etc. that would be great.
So in order to get the right shape and size for the stock I re sized this picture to 180% in paint and printed it.
Which put it the same size as the Mr5 body and adapter. I then cut and glued the printout onto some card and cut out the stock.
