A Hammer P was my first pump and got me hooked. They're great shooters, super accurate and lightweight. For years I ran it with a 16 inch .685 CP barrel, and I never really had reason to switch from that, although nowadays you probably want a .681.

One thing about these though, is that the plastic they used for the grip frame is really fragile and brittle. They WILL break eventually, no matter what you do. One day, I tried to unscrew a tank from mine, and the rear grip frame screw literally cracked the entire back of the grip frame off and an inch of the grip frame shattered into a dozen plastic shards. It's been sitting in my closet ever since, waiting for an aluminium grip frame to come up for sale.

The XL is technically better, but only marginally. If you already have regular freaks, there's no reason to upgrade to the XLs, IMO.

Jakeweeks thanks for the heads up! I will probably look into more grips after a few times playing with it to see what fits right for me.

I cannot wait for this sunday to try it out! I'm used to using my kp3.5 so itll be a fun experience!

I'm assuming that counter clockwise decreases velocity and clockwise increases on the bolt? that manual isnt loading up on my work computer

Your always get to this point in paintball though

It's called the point of diminishing returns

Basically put, you can always get something better, but you will spend more and more money for less and less performance

Assuming it works fine: a phantom frame would be mint. Super easy to find and a good price too. If ya want to get fancy: Wintec made some damn nice frames. But those might be harder to find

If you have one of the old brass lined stock Hammer barrels on it you can make it Freak bored on your own if you're handy

Get out a heat gun and a wooden dowel and slide the brass insert out and just clean off the glue, cut the brass insert and reglue the remaining brass back inside the front portion of the barrel and boom instant Freak Barrel

With a few mods and work you could even make your Hammer look like mine...I cut my stock barrel down so it was flush with the slide

Yeah, I'm familiar with the concept.

Can confirm. My wintec frame just arrived today. Looks like I'm going to need a new sear to get it to work on my R7, though. You'd probably have to do the same to make it work on a hammer. EDIT actually you don't, I threw mine on a hammer that was lying around the store and it worked perfectly. They're nice frames for sure. If you could find one I'd recommend it.
