MCS Announces "MSR" as their Shaped Projectile

The shape is also probably less picky in mags that have problem-areas, where fins love to get caught.

Pic from the MCS Instagram:

Almost identical in shape and material to what I got to handle while I worked there. I was impressed with crush test, and performance at 10m was exactly what I wanted personally, but I don't know much about its extreme distance performance. Hopefully alpha batches go out soon.

That ridge might allow a grooved barrel to impart some spin. Guess it would depend on consistent sizing though.

The "compression band" is foam, that's exactly what its supposed to do. Seal and grab rifling. Round is 0.685, band is 0.690.

I'd give these a try, if nothing else I want to see more FSR competition to bring price down.

Foam huh? Must be some pretty dense/ durable foam. Would love to see some people get their hands on these and get busy testing.

I am intrigued. With it being a soft band I REALLLLLY want to test these. You would think the drag would be a fair amount. Do you also potentially get little foam rings on your mask, and on the field? lol.

Also, wondering on degrade properties as well given the multiple materials used.

I haven't held these, but I've heard they're assembled. I would guess it's a front shell, back shell, and the "band" is actually a disk sandwiched in between. All 3 parts (shells and foam) are most likely polystyrene - just like FSR.

I'm just happy to see more options to be coming to the market. Just to clarify are these being set to release in 68 or 50 cal? I'm excited to see what some shaped 50 cal could do out of a 3357.

I'm surprised they are that small, typical aftermarket barrels are 689, a riffled barrel then only has .001 of size difference. For reference a sheet of normal paper is around .005. it's not a lot of squeeze at all. Temperature difference could mean these spiral or tumble if it's that close

Curious if the foam ring will leave residue on the inside of the barrel for sure
