Post all the things! | Tymcneer brass freak inserts
Alright now that I have spent a few different days playing with my .680 insert I feel that I can give it a solid review. Quick Review : May not fit your barrel if its a non SP freak set aka 3rd party or a custom mod to a barrel. The brass didnt give me any higher fps compared to my aluminum and steel inserts, at least not an increase that was noticeable. Long Review : The Fit - I would imagine all the inserts are this way but mine is very tight in my Deadly Wind barrel. I have to rotate the insert as I push in to find the right angle to get it in. The insert does however slide without much effort into my two freak backs, one being cocker and one being spyder thread. For instance, Dave (gurkenstein) just got a phantom that had its stock barrel bored out for freak inserts and while my other freak inserts would go in there was no hope of ever getting that brass insert in so I imagine the machining on the OD must be a hair too big so you have been warned =P Accuracy - I don't have calipers so I have to trust Tymcneer that the insert is .680 the entire length of the insert however if it isn't it has to be pretty close. It shoots comparable to my .679 aluminum and .682 steel inserts shooting Marbs. Price - I would say that honestly you are price wise better off not buying the brass insert in my opinion has they are just as heavy as the steel inserts but much more expensive. However Tymcneer is a stand up member and I have no remorse buying my insert from him as it honestly came as expected and I feel that he put a lot of time into getting these right and as close to factory as he possibly could which the price represents. Overall - I would give them an 8/10. The fit and the price are the only negatives of the inserts however they shoot just as good as a regular freak insert so it would be unfair to give them anything less. I shot my .676 brass insert last saturday. I'm happy with it, the money was worth it to know I can shoot any paint I want.

Reasons to buy Ty's brass inserts... You can throw away all those SP inserts. They're brass, and brass is goodder than all other alloys. The .680 fit all my custom freak barrels, the .675 needed a bit of sanding... Not much. Thanks for making these Ty.

So you should be good for another couple hours. splattttttt I wasn't goin to google "chubbin" because I assumed it had to do with fat. The lard type, not the fun stuff. I had obtained a complete set of Ty's brass freak inserts back in May at Tunaball 4. Now, after playing a full weekend of paintball for Reaperball at OSG this past weekend, I can throw my 2c's out there ![]() I had used the .680 insert in my DeadlyWind Fibur barrel for the 2-day event. Fitment in the Fibur was perfect. I had also tested the other 2 inserts previously to check fitment and there were no problems. Day 1: Used in my CCM J2L pump, shooting RPS Premium (the new stuff that turns to chalk/paste when it breaks ![]() The paint was slightly dimpled but barely caused any problems in the trajectory. Over the chrono, my velocity was very consistent. There were even a few times where we wondered if a ball shot out since the number did not change. (my chrony-range-target validated that this was not the case ![]() Played all day, not a single barrel break... I'm already impressed. Day 2: Bringing out the big guns... my PneuMag. Same barrel/insert, different paint. This time I was using AllStar. The paint was clearly higher quality than the Premium I shot the day before. I did not even bother sizing the paint. A few others were using .682 and .684 SP aluminum inserts but I stuck with the brass ![]() Shot a heck of a lot more paint this time around. Not a single barrel break and very consistent trajectory. All in all, I am very satisfied with the fitment and quality of these inserts. At this point, I'm debating just selling off the rest of my SP aluminum freak inserts and only keeping the 3 Ty brass inserts ![]() Keep up the good work, Ty! ![]()

Will there be a .685 and .690 insert in the future?

I have no plans to produce a .685 or .690 insert, as Palmers is doing the larger sizes. Sorry all. If Palmers stops making the .685, I can produce those. A .690 would be very difficult for me to produce based on the size of the base material I use, so I will not likely ever produce any of them. Ty
