This is awesome. Can't wait till I can pick one up to mess with! Seems like it would be a really fun pistol.

and I think I'll be picking up one of these next time I have somewhere to bring it that it's not illegal (aka not college)

I'm sure they could (I once modified a Vulcan to horizontal feed with epoxy and PVC fittings), but I was hoping that the gun was going to be sold to the public in this form. A cheap, horizontal-feeding pump would probably have sold to scenario players wanting a super-cheap sidearm, or anyone wanting more of an old-school experience.

It's a DD (Discount duck)

I'm sure it won't be too much work to add freak inserts and a horizontal feed (don't need a mill to shape plastic )

Honestly I don't think the original target market (backyard players) would appreciate a horizontal feed, at least not one that wasn't spring feed, and that would have increased the price. They wouldn't be looking for stock class legitimacy, or old school nostalgia, they just want a cheap gun that feeds with out having to worry about rocking forward or back when pumping it.

I don't think they were looking for a pump alternative to the SA-17, at least not yet.

I'm glad they redesigned the BE Raptor pump. That's exactly the same marker inside, minus the barrel being separate from the body halves and the new style pump handle. Even the detent was in the Raptor. BTW watch that ball detent, it will wear out on you fast, I think a wire detent would be the way to go in the barrel if you don't wanna spring for a freak mod.
