Epoch Paintball's H7 mare's leg kit WIP

facebook is an evil, evil thing, and it made sure i got to watch this kit being developed so of course i picked one up when they came out... my drv needed a 'cowboy shoot' style buddy . for those who haven't seen this product, here's a few important details:

-this is not a bolt-on kit, the body will be permanently modified
-most elements are 3D printed, expect rough finishes and filing for fitment
-some parts from the donor hammer 7 will be needed, body, trigger spring & pin, and a mag spring
-assembly/modification instructions are available online, but gloss over an important element, tinkering ability is a plus
-company looks to be brand new and a one man show, currently sold out, and is in canada (my kit took a little over 4 weeks to arrive stateside), give him time
-webpage linky: https://epochpaintball.ca/

but on to the important bits, pictures!

unboxing, was not thrilled when bits were moving around but it all arrived intact:

parts laid out, lower, stock, foregrip, and such are printed, lever, links, and square key are steel:

3D print is pretty grainy and has inconsistencies, but will sand/file just fine:

for the most part the assembly is pretty obvious, with instructions being unncessary, but here's their write-up: https://epochpaintball.ca/pages/assembly . the tricky bit that is a somewhat glossed over is the bucket changer adapter fabrication and install, i ended up cobbling a few things and drilling new retention set screw holes to make it work (will pull it out and take pictures later, i did a rough assembly and test first). here's a quick assembled picture:

loading is from underneath, one at a time pushed past detents:

in loading/test firing i found that the mag spring i fabricated for it (i didn't have a h7 mag to pull one from) may have been a bit too strong... it was quite difficult to load and had feed issues (balls trying to push back out past the load detents). otherwise the action was fairly smooth, about the same length throw as my sheridan builds, though the longer lever and narrow attachment point on the square key leave it a bit wobbly. i'll do a tear down and cleaned-up rebuild over the next month taking more pictures for an update, but for those that have a hammer 7 laying around and want a lever project, at $175 this kit isn't a bad buy

I saw that project start about two days after I shipped out my h7 in a sale. Oh well. Hope she works out for you. I'd be tempted to try and carve some real wood to replace the printed stuff or at least try to adhere a laminate but I'm snobby about my wood.

Been interested in this kit for a while. Be interested to see how you feel about it after using it a while.

I got one of these too and started assembling it last night til I realized I need to clean my H7 body a bit better.

Can you detail how the 12g changer is supposed to work? What part do I need to buy? I didn't realize that was separate when I ordered.

melvin: the copper pipe included could hold around 13 rounds with the spring and follower, but i had to fight to get 10 rounds in

vitamin j: the picture he shows in the assembly instructions looks a but like a cut-down asa, i went with threading the end of a bucket changer and installing a straight macroline fitting... then found that i needed to extend the stationary section a bit to get the alignment right, so i cut the top off a threadsaver, locktighted it on, and filed the knurling until it fit (also drilled/tapped additional set screw locations further back). i tried a macro elbow at the valve assembly, but it stuck back too far and i ended up using a separate 90 and straight macro fitting.

The bucket changer appears to be a standard CCI changer, so you should be able to go through their website.
