2019 tax refunds

How’s everyone’s tax refund looking this year? Any big plans? Have you been impacted by the changes/new withholding etc? I personally owe this year around $1500 which is a first...however I did switch jobs throughout 2018; which complicated things.

Should I pay in installments or just take the hit and make the payment ? Looks like I will hold off on some paintball purchases until closer to summer.

I owe a couple hundred to federal. Mass I receive a couple hundred. Neither has happened before.

Usually I get $7-800 back from federal and owe Massachusetts $50-75

Interesting thing is I worked about half the overtime then I usually do. So I actually made less this year.

we made about $5k more, lost a child credit, but got put in a lower tax bracket.
getting back about $2k more than last year in federal; about the same as last year for state.

i filed about 10 days ago and got my federal return yesterday.
good times, i thoroughly enjoy paying all my bills and not having to think about them piling up...

Pay it all at once. The installment thing is something you can only do once every 5 years or so if I remember correctly.

As someone with low state taxes (Texas only has property and sales), and an extra kid added this year, we're getting a hefty return - almost 10% of our taxes paid.

I heard historically, around 75% of people got a refund, whereas the new withholding is closer to 50-50...which would be a good idea if so much of America wasn't paycheck to paycheck.

Wife went from stay at home dependent to full time employee + a 1099 job on the side. Forgot to make the changes in withholdings. And as everyone is finding out even though our taxes paid didn't change much they withheld less, so I'll be cutting a big check to .gov

Too bad I can't demand a refund, cuz the services the government provides me amounts to a big ol' bag of dicks.

My employer is a little slow and didn't adjust withholding from last year, combined with the standard deduction doubling I got a healthy return. State I'm getting $1 back

So far I got some smart lights and am looking at some DIY home automation projects. Most of the money will probably go into savings though.
